Is my Book Club private? Can other people see it or join it without asking me?

By default, your Book Club is private to only you. You can use the Invite links to add other people to your club. Once they have that invite link, they’ll be an active member of your Book Club and will be able to see all your highlights and discussion prompt answers in the chat. (Other members cannot invite more people to join your Club.)
